WELCOME TO TAVERN HILL

Owned and operated by Susan W. Schurz, Tavern Hill is a professional custom drapery workroom that provides made-to-order window treatments and home décor accessories which are sold exclusively to the interior design industry. Susan established Tavern Hill in 1988. Before opening her drapery workroom, Susan studied Textile Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her path was also influenced by her Mother who began working in drapery workrooms when Susan was five years old.

In 2003, Susan became an instructor for the Custom Home Furnishings Academy in Charlotte, NC, where she continues to teach Window Treatment 104, High End Fabrication Methods. She is a popular speaker for industry conferences and associations and mentors industry peers through online forums, networking and personal relationships.

Susan and her company are well-respected both nationally and locally. Her work has been published in several books and she is a contributor to industry publications such as the Custom Home Furnishings Magazine, Window Fashions magazine and Drapery and Window Coverings magazine. She has published a book of original window treatment design sketches, "Sketches for Home Decor" and has been featured in professional educational videos for the Custom Home Furnishings Academy.

Susan is a member of the Window Coverings Association of America (WCAA), serving as Vice President for the Richmond, VA chapter. She is also a Master in the Window Fashions Certified Professionals Program. WFCP Master Certification is awarded to window covering professionals who through testing and design projects prove they have a high level of knowledge and professional skills in our industry.
