Class Description of Window Treatment Fabrication 104: This advanced 4-day class will cover high-end drapery panels, advanced valance techniques, arched and bay windows, custom details and hand sewing. Students will complete an arched drapery panel, bump-interlined panel, interlined panel with attached valance and other samples using high-end fabrication techniques.

Interlined Panel Styles & Techniques with Susan Schurz
This video presents Susan's techniques for making interlined drapery panels. It contains easy to follow, step-by-step instructions and detailed close-ups showing hand sewing techniques and fabrication methods for making interlined panel with a variety of pleat styles, an interlined panel with a pleated attached valance, and a bump interlined panel with a rouched heading. This video was filmed in high-definition on two discs and is approximately 2 1/2 hours long.

Leading Edge Banding Techniques
In this video, Susan shares her techniques for adding decorative banding to the leading edge of drapery panels. You will learn how to add straight and bias cut bandings, pattern matched bandings and shirred bandings with cording. Included in this video are tips for fabricating panels, pleated headings and hand sewing techniques. All tips are shown with detailed close-ups and easy to follow step-by-step instructions. This video was filmed in high-definition on two discs and the approximate run time is 2hrs. 50 minutes.

Custom Embellishments
Join Susan as she shares tips and techniques for creating unique custom embellishments. In this video you will learn how to make knife and box pleated ruffles, bow-tie box pleated banding, mitered banding, bias banding and scalloped edges. Follow along with easy to understand step-by-step instructions and detailed close ups. The video is on two discs and is approximately 2 1/2 hours long. It was filmed in high-definition so the close-ups are very clear.
 

Basic Sketching: Window Treatments
In this video you will learn how to sketch basic window treatment designs using easy techniques and inexpensive supplies. Sketches and scale drawings are one of the best ways to sell your design ideas and can be incorporated into presentations, work orders and used as a guide for installation. Once you learn the basic techniques and with practice you will be able to express your style, share ideas and help to create custom designs all with a simple pencil and paper. Join Susan as she shares tips and techniques for creating unique custom embellishments. With the addition of custom detailing, imaginative add-ons and quality fabrics tab tops can be the perfect treatment for any room style from casual to elegant. Join Susan W. Schurz as she shows step-by-step how to fabricate tab top panels. In this video you will learn how to make a basic tab top panel and other unique designs including a trefoil, rouched, buttoned and slip knot tab styles. This video is approximately 2 hours 15 minutes hours long and was filmed in high definition. 

Open Top, Box Pleated Valance
The Open Top, Box Pleated Valance is a popular and unique style of top treatment. In this video you will learn the techniques used to draft a pattern pattern, proper placement of pattern motifs, how to add contrast inserts and micro cording. Susan W. Schurz will show each fabrication step in detail from the original sketch to board mounting. This video has been filmed in high definition and is approximately 2 hours long on two discs.

Pleated Panels for Arched Panels
n this video you will learn the techniques used to plan and fabricate arched, pleated panels. Topics include measuring and making a template of the window, constructing a pattern, fabrication and installation. Follow along with Susan in the workroom as she shows step-by-step how to fabricate this challenging style of treatment. You will see two treatments created from start to finish including a full sized pair of panels installed with custom hardware from Helser Brothers, Inc. The techniques learned in this video can be adapted for any unusual shaped window and for a variety of styles including balloon shades, top treatments and panels. This video has been filmed in high definition and is approximatley 2 hours long.
